
Kuwait's Journey of Hope boat docked in Bahrain on Monday, the last leg of the vessel before returning to Kuwait to conclude a seven-month trip aimed at highlighting Kuwait's role towards people with mental disability.
Kuwait's Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah, in a statement to KUNA, welcomed the members of the boat and commended their noble cause.
"the journey has achieved its objectives and people around the world admired the tough trip," he said.
The journey, he added, succeeded in highlighting Kuwait's civilized aspirations of Kuwait in taking good care of people with special mental needs.
Jassem Al-Bader, member of the Journey of Hope Board of Trustees, said the trip achieved many objectives foremost shedding light on how Kuwait was taking good care of mentally disabled people.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Bader said the boat reached the US and met with UN officials to highlight the cause. "The UN considered the journey a special and highly respected work," he added.
Al-Bader said the boat visited 20 countries in the Gulf, Europe, North Africa and the US in a 14,000 nautical mile trip.
