The National Assembly at its regular session on Tuesday mourned the death of member of the Foundation Council Abbas Habib Al-Menawer, who passed away in Germany after a long treatment journey at the age of 85.
National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim said in a speech that Kuwait has lost one of the pioneers of the constitutional foundation and one of those who participated in setting the Kuwaiti constitution and witnessed the transition from the conventional rule to constitutional rule with exceptional elites, led by late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
Over more than half a century, Al-Menawer was a real and honest representative of the people with all what serves the interests of Kuwait, he added.
For his part, Minister of Oil and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Ali Al-Omair participated on behalf of the government in the mourning of Al-Menawer, stressing he had left clear imprints since the Foundation Council and in the roles Kuwait had gone through.
Al-Menawer began his political life after the independence of Kuwait, where he participated in the formation of the Foundation Council in 1962 and chaired Al-Ayyam newspaper which was published in the United Arab Emirates.
