
The death toll of the road accident that occurred Tuesday between Aflou and Laghouat has risen to 17, while 27 people among the 45 injured are still under medical supervision, according to the Civil Protection
Twenty of the injured are at the public hospital of Aflou and the seven others are under medical supervision at the hospital of Laghouat, said the Director of Laghouat Civil Protection, Lieutenant Colonel Lagraa Abdelhak.
The other injured left the hospitals after they had received the necessary medical care, he added.
The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon in the region of Djeder on the trunk road 23 linking Aflou to Laghouat following the collision between a minibus and a bus coming in the opposite direction.
Twelve vehicles, ambulances and trucks were mobilized by the Civil Protection to transport the victims of the accident, said the senior officer.
The bodies of the victims are kept in the mortuary of the hospital of Aflou and an investigation into the circumstances of the tragic accident has been opened.
