Foreign Affairs Minister Ramtane Lamamra called Thursday in Algiers the different Malian parties “to seize the opportunity” of the process of the Algiers’ negotiations to achieve an agreement of comprehensive and final peace so that to restore stability to Mali.
“Algiers process is an opportunity and it is up to us to seize it. We should be equal to the responsibilities that the fate and circumstances assigned to us so that to take up the challenge of peace,” said Lamamra in the works of the 4th stage of the inclusive inter-Malian dialogue between the Malian government and the representatives of the political-military groups of Northern Mali.
It is up to “the Malians themselves to make peace ,” said Lamamra, underlining that it is incumbent upon the mediation group, where Algeria is the leading mediator, to help the Malians to “talk, listen and understand each other to be able to take the path of peace, fraught with obstacles.”
“We cannot as a team of mediation assume in your place the historical responsibility,” to achieve peace and stability in Mali, Lamamra told the Malian parties.
