Lawmakers will take up the draft law for overhauling the government pay scale system for all of its employees when they soon meet for the next parliamentary session, said here on Thursday Acting Speaker of the House Yaqoub Al-Sane.
The draft law, once approved, will eliminate all currently existing differences in government salaries for employees of similar qualifications, he said, adding that the lawmakers would also suggest setting firm guidelines for employee promotions.
Citing favorable cooperation between the executive and legislative branches, he said he was pleased with the recently approved law for offering severance pay for all Kuwaiti employees working for the government.
Being chairman of the parliamentary committee for national human resources, he said the committee was set to quickly address the status of pensions for Kuwaiti retirees, with an eye to streamline it for their benefit.
He patted the lawmakers on the back for a job well done in addressing these and other meat-and-potato issues that concern the daily rigors of life for Kuwaiti government employees and retirees.
