Lebanon foils Daesh bomb plot 1 day after triple terror hits

The Lebanese Security forces foiled on Saturday a bomb plot in capital Beirut that is believed to be ordered by the Daesh , the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The NNA said that two Lebanese suspects, who intended to carry out the attack under IS order, have been arrested and transferred to the Military General Prosecution. They were under observation by the general Security agents.

So far, no further details have been disclosed, and it is not yet clear what evidence the Lebanese government has obtained that could pin IS as the one behind the strike.

The failed bomb strike came just one day after a triple Daesh-sponsored terrorist attack, which occurred in France, Kuwait and Tunisia and killed 66 people and wounded at least 266 others.

Although no evidence so far can suggest these attacks have been well coordinated before hand, yet it still raises widespread fears for possible future terrorist plots by the extremist militant group which seems to have been trying to play a bigger role in orchestrating lone-wolf style hits while it is combating Iraqi and Syrian military forces on the battlefield.

Lebanon has frequently been the subject of terror attacks particularly in the areas controlled by Hezbollah, the Shiite militant party, over the party's involvement in the fighting in Syria alongside the Syrian government troops.

The army and security forces have since been cracking down on various Lebanese and non-Lebanese suspects throughout the country, detaining several on terrorism charges.
