Lebanon's Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul-Latif Derian on Sunday strongly condemned the Saturday's suicide attack in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli.
The Mufti said in a statement that the attack that targeted Jabal Mohsen in Tripoli is a terrorist act aimed at destabilizing the security and stability in Lebanon, stressing that countering sedition is a religious and national duty on all Lebanese.
Derian called for unity in Lebanon and to support the army and security forces to maintain stability and avoid risks that might face the country.
Double suicide bombing targeted a cafe in the area of Jabal Mohsen in Tripoli on Saturday killing nine people and wounded 37 others, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health statistics.
The army said in a statement that preliminary investigations revealed that the explosions were carried out by two Lebanese suicide bombers.
