Libya dialogue resumed in Morocco in absence of Tripoli delegation

The Morocco-hosted dialogue between rival Libyan factions resumed on Thursday with the absence of the delegation of the Tripoli-based General National Congress.

UN envoy to Libya Bernardino Leon chaired the gathering.

In an earlier statement, the participants in the dialogue urged the Tripoli-based General National Congress to attend the dialogue and play a role in Libya's political process.

They also hoped that they would accept the fifth UN draft that paves the way for setting up a national unity government in the unrest-hit country.

Libya has two rival governments and parliaments, those recognized by the international community sitting in the far east of the country, while the others reside in the capital Tripoli.

Vying for legislative authority are a Tobruk-based parliament and an Islamist-led parliament, the latter of which – even though its mandate ended last year – continues to convene in Tripoli.
