
An official source at Benina airbase in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi has denied reports on the crash of a military plane in the city. in a statement to Libyan News Agency (LNA) the source said the helicopter which flied over the skies of Benghazi on a surveillance mission returned safely to base, calling on all media source to be accurate and credible in their reporting and not to spread rumours that aim to foment sedition and embarrass security. On the explosion which took place yesterday at a weapon cache at Barek Al Shatti airbase in south Libya, the base commander explained that the explosion occurred after groups entered the area to steel ammunition. He added that the successive explosion caused number of injuries, some of them serious and spread panic among the area's residents. Meanwhile, director of Barek hospital Dr. Ibrahim Abu Zayan said the hospital received a number of persons wounded in the explosion with some of them suffering severe burns.
