Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has praised a visit paid by Libyan Premier Abdullah al-Thini and his accompanying delegation to Egypt, said a statement on Wednesday.
"This is not a protocol visit," Mahlab said in the statement.
Libya's stability and security is part and parcel of Egypt's safety and stability, Mahlab stressed.
Mahlab said that there will be bilateral meetings during the coming period to promote cooperation.
The visit came upon an official invitation from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the statement said.
Mahlab and a number Egyptian ministers held an expanded meeting with Thini and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting tackled a number of regional issues of mutual concern.
During the meeting, the Egyptian side reiterated support for Libya's legitimate institutions and the elected parliament, stressing that Egypt reject any interference in Libya's domestic affairs.
The Egyptian side voiced readiness to cooperate with Libya in a raft of fields, mainly combating terrorism.
For his part, Thini has praised Egypt's support for Libya and its institutions, congratulating Egypt on the 41st anniversary of the October war victory.
