The 17th meeting of an Arab counter-terrorism experts team kicked off at the Arab League General Secretariat Monday.
Representatives of Arab bodies concerned with countering terrorism are attending the meeting.
Mauritanian judge Ahmed Moustafa, who chairs the team, said the Arab world is witnessing unprecedented challenges, particularly with terrorist operations on the rise and the emergence of terrorist groups such as Daesh.
Dr Alaa el Tamimi, the legal director at the AL, stressed the importance of unifying Arab visions and ideologies in countering terrorism.
The agenda of the two-day meeting includes ways to help victims of terrorist operations, Tamimi said.
He touched upon problems concerning Arab cooperation to counter terrorism and fight terrorist organizations.
Tamimi also talked about the phenomenon of foreign fighters and electronic terrorism.
Hopefully the team would come out with recommendations to face this hazardous phenomenon that threatens the Arab world, he said.
The Arab League Council had endorsed the rules of procedure of the team concerned with fighting terrorism in September 2009.
The counter-terrorism team is acting under the supervision of Arab foreign ministers.
It aims to outline mechanisms of cooperation among Arab countries to fight terrorism and to coordinate efforts, programs and activities of Arab ministerial councils and organizations concerned.
The team is expected to make a number of recommendations to be discussed during the 143rd session of the AL Council on March 9-10.
