Terrorists on Thursday attacked a number of police and army headquarters in the North Sinai city of Arish, said the military spokesman.
In a statement late Thursday, Mohamed Samir said that the attackers used booby-trapped cars and mortar shells to attack the buildings.
A fire exchange with the attackers is still going on, Samir added, with no mention of causalities.
The attacks came in response to the successful security blows by the army and police against terrorist hotbeds in Sinai, he added.
Earlier in the day, booby-trapped cars and mortar shells hit a number of security headquarters in the North Sinai city of Arish.
