Military court delays trial of 199 over violence charges to April 5 in Egypt

The military court in Suez postponed the trial of 199 defendants, including Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed Badea and senior members Mohamed el Beltagy and Safwat Hegazy, to April 5 over charges of inciting violence.
The military and public prosecution had accused the defendants of inciting and committing riots and violent acts in Suez, torching five army armored vehicles and several churches, killing 33 civilians and inciting the murder of and attacks against army forces in the aftermath of the dispersal of MB sit-ins in August 2013.
MB leader Badea and member Beltagy did not attend today's hearing, the third in their trial over the case, a judicial source said.
The hearing was heavily secured by army and police forces with 54 defendants brought from their detention cells at Ataqa prison to the court premises.
