Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Tuesday underlined Kuwait's belief in comprehensive regional and international security.
"In the State of Kuwait, through our unshakable belief in the all-embracing concept of regional and international security, and full commitment to the resolutions and mechanisms of the Interpol, we affirm our uninterrupted efforts to enhance joint international security cooperation," Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled told the Interpol's 83rd General Assembly.
The Minister is leading the Kuwaiti delegation to the Interpol meetings that kicked off in Monaco today.
He said that Kuwait last September signed the Interpol's Travel Document agreement to ease travels by Interpol officers to member countries on official missions.
The documents is intended to reduce response times for personnel deployed to assist with transnational criminal investigations, major events or emergency situations by waiving normal visa requirements.
He also appreciated the invitation by the Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble to take part in the 83rd General Assembly that coincides with 100th anniversary of the first International conference, Monaco 1914.
The international police cooperation has achieved a lot over a whole century thanks to exchange of expertise, as tools and technologies have been developed to counter all forms of crime on the regional and international levels.
Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled and the Kuwaiti delegation this morning had talks with ministers, officials and delegates of the member countries taking part in the General Assembly on enhancing international security cooperation and coordination for enforcing security and peace.
Prince Albert of Monaco presided over the opening ceremony of the Interpol 83rd General Assembly, and gave a speech. The event, attended by delegates from 190 member states, is held under the theme of "Turn Back Crime: 100 years of international police cooperation." Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble also addressed the opening ceremony saying that the international police cooperation had turned over the past 100 years from and individual activity to coordinated collective measures and practices.
Today's ministerial meeting focused on the difficulties, criminal threats and challenges facing the international security as well as the formation of new partnerships for a safer world.
