Moroccan authorities announced Friday that police arrested a new terrorist cell linked with Daesh, local media reported.
The Moroccan central bureau of judiciary investigations (BCIJ), an arm of the General directorate of national territory, arrested the cell members Friday in Dar Bouazza, near Casablanca.
The seven-member terrorist cell supported the terrorist organization of Daesh, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
According to investigations, the gang’s chief had close ties with Daesh leaders in Syria and Iraq with the aim of recruiting and sending Moroccan fighters to Daesh camps in order to acquire military expertise before returning to the kingdom to carry out terrorist operations and implement Daesh’s subversive agenda, the statement added.
The suspects will stand trial after completion of the investigation.
