Morocco is taking part, together with other countries of the region, in an international conference on the situation in Libya to be held on Wednesday in Barcelona, a Moroccan diplomatic source said.
The conference, to be held in the presence of Spain’s Head of Government, Mariano Rajoy, Foreign Minister José Manuel Garcia Margallo and Libya’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdelaziz, is held following the “serious domestic situation in Libya and the risks that it represents not only for the country but for the entire region,” the Spanish Foreign Department said.
“Spain considers that time has come to put together stances that support Libya’s stability and the leadership of the United Nations Organization in international mediation efforts meant to find a negotiated solution to the crisis,” the Spanish foreign department release stated.
In addition to delegates from Mediterranean neighboring countries, representatives of international organizations, such as the European Union, the Union for the Mediterranean, the Arab League and the United Nations Organization are also scheduled to participate.
