Morsi's nephew acquitted of violence charges

Zagazig Criminal Court has acquitted former president Mohamed Morsi's nephew, a high school student, and two of his colleagues, of violence charges.

The court Tuesday said the evidence was not enough to prove the three students had had a hand in acts of violence in the Delta city of Sharqiya.

It also adjourned until February 9 the ruling session of 83 Zagazig University students, also being tried in connection with the same violence charges.

Today's session was held amid tight security measures.

Morsi's nephew and two of his colleagues had been arrested for inciting violence and lobbying for rallies outside a balloting station in Hehya town during the presidential election.

Eighty-three university students had also been arrested.

All the defendants were accused of breaching the protest law, joining a terrorist group, horrifying citizens, blocking traffic and sabotaging public and private property.
