Adviser to the Mufti of the republic Ibrahim Negm warned against the spread of extremism in the region, especially in Egypt.
"Some terrorist groups are trying to infiltrate into the Egyptian community, by spreading their destructive thoughts," he said commenting on a statement by al-Qaeda linked the Islamic State group claiming terrorist acts in Egypt.
"Such thoughts prompted the establishment of a ''Takfirist Fatawa observatory" to monitor and counter the spread of extremism in Egypt," he said.
He also called on the media outlets to adopt Al-Azhar's opinions as the main criteria for all matters relating to the religion of Islam in Egypt.
