Palestine Grand Mufti and preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque Mohammad Hussein urged all Muslims to visit Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, which is facing a serious threat from the Israelis. In statements on Saturday, the preacher said that visiting Al-Aqsa Mosque and al-Quds is duty imposed on every Muslim to show support with the Palestinians there and face excavations around the mosque. In recent weeks, groups of Jewish settlers – often accompanied by Israeli security forces – have repeatedly entered the Aqsa Mosque. The frequent violations anger Palestinian Muslims and occasionally lead to violent clashes in the mosque compound. Israelis refer to Al-Aqsa as the "Temple Mount," claiming the area was the site of two prominent Jewish temples in ancient times.
