
The National Bar Association focused Thursday in Algiers on the issues related to the defence and promotion of human rights as part of the consultations on the revision of the Constitution.
In a statement at the end of his meeting with Minister of State, Principle Private Secretary of the Presidency of the Republic Ahmed Ouyahia, who is leading consultations of the constitutional revision, the association’s interim president Yahia Bouamama said that his proposals focused on the protection of individual and collective liberties as well as the independence of justice.
The proposals also focused on “the strengthening of the presumption of innocence,” he added.
Bouamama called to enable judges to enforce law to ensure fair trials.
