New constitution to be issued after 6 months

Syria’s Grand Mufti Ahmad Badr Eddin Hassoun said Syria's new constitution will be issued after six months.
In a religious meeting, the Mufti said the new constitution will stipulate that Syria is a secular country that "does not conflict with religious institutions."
"Secularism in Syria was never against religion but served it," the Mufti said, adding that "religion does not force law or vice versa."
He also attacked western calls for holding free elections and a referendum in Syria, adding that such calls ignite sectarian conflict among Syrians.
This is the first time that an official in the Syrian regime announces that the new constitution will be issued after six months.
