Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said on Monday that new investments would be channeled to complete all underway projects in Upper Egypt to be fully operational.
"Upper Egypt governorates will be given a high priority as they have massive potentials that help establish key and strategic industries," Sherif said in a meeting with lawmakers of Sohag governorate.
"Delaying or suspending projects not only squanders public funds but also is deemed corruption," Ismail said at the three-hour meeting.
The prime minister assigned the health minister to check on the progress of the health projects in Sohag and to meet the demands of MPs regarding increase of beds at intensive care units, Hepatitis C and catheterization in the city.
He also charged the education minister to solve the residence problems facing teachers recently appointed in the governorate.
"The largest sanitation project is being carried out in Sohag at investments of 23 billion pounds," he added.
Egypt needs concerted efforts to advance all service sectors, he asserted.
