Newly-appointed minister of migration and expatriates Nabila Makram said on Saturday her ministry will serve as the link between Egyptians abroad and the country.
The ministry will also seek to know their needs to meet them, Makram said following the first meeting of Prime Minister Sherif Ismail's newly-sworn-in cabinet.
Makram said she knows about the issue of illegal immigration as she served at Egypt's embassy in Rome.
Italy is one of the main destinations of illegal migrants from the Middle East and Africa.
She spoke also about her experience of work in the Gulf region, Europe and the United States with the needs of Egyptian expatriates.
She said the new premier asserted the necessity of coordination between the concerned ministries to resolve the problems of Egyptians abroad.
