New parliament can play role in solving Renaissance Dam crisis

Former assistant foreign minister and head of the foreign relations committee in the parliament Moustafa el Fiky said the coming parliament can play an important role in serving the country's foreign policy, especially as regards the Renaissance Dam crisis.

This remark came during a lecture given by el Fiky as part of the training program organized by the general secretariat of the parliament for the new members.

El Fiky underlined that the meeting, which was held by ousted president Mohamed Morsi with the parties to discuss the dam's crisis and broadcast on air, harmed the country, noting that airing the meeting, whether was done on purpose or not, is considered a crime in itself.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry exerts its utmost efforts to deal with challenges including the Renaissance Dam file, he noted.

Concerning the new house of representatives, el Fiky underscored that it groups women, youths and the handicapped, a matter which did not happen before.

Libyan borders is the biggest challenges facing Egypt given the growing amount of weapons that are being smuggled into Egypt from Libya, he said.

He further reiterated that parliamentary polls were characterized with unprecedented transparency.
