
Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister for Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs and Chairman of the National Election Committee (NEC), has called on members of the electoral colleges, who are eligible for candidacy in the FNC elections 2015, to register their names at registration centres set up by the NEC across the UAE from 16th to 20th August.
He urged them to participate and support all phases of the electoral process, adding, "Such a step will reflect positively on the process and open new horizons for parliamentary life in the UAE, as well as revamp the political empowerment programme, being the best tool to boost the political participation."
Dr. Gargash said the FNC election 2015 comes in line with the UAE's comprehensive development system, with the aim to boost the national allegiance and public interest under the banner of the Union.
He called on interested members of the electoral colleges who wish to contest to fully comply with the terms of executive instructions and conditions of the candidacy regarding the election campaigns and electoral silence period as well as the recommendations of the NEC, which would strengthen the efforts to implement the electoral process in a transparent and professional manner.
Dr. Gargash urged the members of the electoral colleges to attend the educational campaign being carried out by the NEC committees in various parts of the country.
The NEC committees will receive candidates, members of the electoral colleges, in nine centres across the UAE. In the emirate of Abu Dhabi, the registration centres will be the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, Hazza Stadium in Al Ain, and Baynounah Institute of Sciences and Technology in Western Region.
In the emirate of Dubai, the registration centre will be at the Dubai World Trade Centre, while in the emirate of Sharjah, it will be at the Sharjah Consultative Council.
In the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, the registration centre will be at the Culture, Youth and Community Development Centre, while in the emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain, it will be at the Executive Council.
In the emirate of Fujairah, the registration centre will be at the new building of the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while in the emirate of Ajman, it will be at the Humaid bin Rashid Hall of the Ajman Museum. All the registration centres will open at 8:00am and close at 3:00pm on all five days.
