
The fourth instance of the High Criminal Court has today convicted two inmates who escaped from prison and sentenced them to fifteen years in jail . "The High Criminal Court has also convicted four other people to fifteen years in connection with same case", Northern Governorate Attorney General Hussain Al-Bouali said.
In a statement today, he said that the court sentenced five other people to seven years in prison, and handed over a five-year jail term to another convict in connection with the same case. The Public Prosecution had charged the first and second accused with escaping from prison. Nine other accused had been charged with helping the two runaways and holding unlicensed weapons. The Public Prosecution had also charged the twelfth accused with hiding the two runaways and failing to report the jailbreak to the authorities.
