
Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani will visit Palestine on Sunday for talks with President Mahmoud Abbas, the 57-member OIC said on Thursday. During the two-day visit, Madani will visit the Aqsa Mosque, it sid in a statement here on Thursday.
According to the OIC statement, Madani will discuss with Abbas the latest developments following the UNSC's rejection of a draft resolution seeking an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
Talks will also address topics of bilateral cooperation and how the OIC can support Palestinians to obtain their rights and establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as a capital.
In his first visit to Palestine since he took over as OIC chief, Madani will open an exhibition under the banner "Jerusalem in Memory" which will display historical pictures of the Holy City.
The Ramallah event, sponsored by President Abbas, is organized by OIC Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) and the Palestinian Ministry of Culture.
On Monday, the OIC chief will be visiting the Aqsa Mosque.
