The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) launched here on Sunday an election monitoring unit to observe procedures of electoral processes taking place in member states.
Establishing the unit comes in line with a decision approved during the 41st and the 42nd sessions of the Arab foreign ministers meetings in Jeddah and Kuwait City respectively, OIC Undersecretary for Political Affairs Omar Abul Allah Abdul Rahman Allem said.
Allem was speaking at the open membership government experts meeting tasked with mulling a draft of "OIC election observers code of conduct" project.
During the meeting, a code of conduct draft was been submitted and will be sent to all member states for survey.
A final version of the code of conduct draft will be submitted at the end of Sunday's meeting.
