
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced Wednesday that the Executive Committee will hold second emergency meeting at the level of foreign ministers to discuss the latest developments and consequences of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. The OIC said in a press statement that the meeting, slated for August 12, would discuss the ways to encounter that aggression in the international and regional forums.
The statement added that a number of foreign ministers have confirmed that they will attend the meeting, which be chaired by Saudi Foreign Minsiter.
The statement pointed out that the OIC resumed implementing the recommendations of exceptional meeting of the Executive Committee last July.
The Secretary-General of the OIC called on international community and members states of the OIC to urgently intervene to stop Israeli aggression and provide humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged Strip. The Israeli aggression has left so far at least 1,800 dead and 1,000 injured, in addition to destruction of thousands homes of Palestinians , turning them into heaps of rubble and twisted metal. A 72-hour humanitarian truce between Israel and Palestinian factions, mediated by Egypt, went into effect Tuesday.
