
The House of Representatives passed a number of presidential decrees that had been issued during the parliament’s absence.
The parliament approved the presidential laws on establishing a national committee for repatriating funds and assets from abroad, a national security council, an Armed Forces supreme council, a national defense council and “Long Live Egypt” Fund.
The lawmakers also passed a law on the extradition of defendants and convicts and another encouraging the production of electricity from renewable energy sources. They also approved amendments to a law on the comprehensive development of the Sinai Peninsula.
They also agreed on the laws on eminent domain, establishing courts of first instance and altering the jurisdiction of some of these courts and a law on electricity.
The lawmakers rejected a presidential decree on issuing a mineral resources law.
A total of 341 laws have been issued during the absence of parliament. The House of Representatives has to complete discussing and passing them in 15 days from the day of its first convention (January 10) under the constitution.
