Tens of Iraqi Peshmerga fighters with heavy weaponry deployed in Syria's predominantly Kurdish city of Ayn al-Arab, just hours after entering the city in droves, a monitoring group reported on Saturday.
Rami Abdul-Rahman, the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said 20 vehicles carrying Peshmerga fighters with heavy weaponry, such as tanks and artilleries, entered Ayn al-Arab ( Kobane), on the Syrian-Turkish borders late Friday to fight alongside other Kurdish fighters against the Islamic State (IS) militant group.
He said the Peshmerga deployed at all frontlines in Ayn al-Arab, adding that the entry of those Iraqi fighters would give a great support to the outgunned Kurdish People Protection Units (YPG) in that strategic city.
