Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab made an inspection tour of Matariya district in eastern Cairo on Saturday.
Mahlab was accompanied by the ministers of youth, Awqaf, antiquities and the Cairo governor.
He stressed that his visit came upon orders from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to confirm that the state is determined to firmly face terrorism.
During the visit, the premier called for setting a timetable for the renovations of the district.
He refused a request by some citizens to legalize their control over a state-owned land on which they had built four housing buildings that were demolished.
He ordered the development of Khamis marketplace to be finalized as soon as possible.
The district has been witnessing frequent clashes between supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and the security forces.
