Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha'far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior attended today (Wednesday) the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Police College and Rabdan Academy on cooperation in education and training. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the seventh edition of the International Exhibition for National Security and Resilience (ISNR Abu Dhabi 2016).

The MoU was signed by Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police College, and Dr. Faisal Obaid Al Ayyan, Executive Vice President, Rabdan Academy, in the presence of officials from both sides.

The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation and communication between both parties, in the areas of training and education; to exchange information, knowledge and experiences and take advantage of the various activities and active participations in all relevant areas.

In his address on the occasion, Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi pointed out that this MoU reflects the Police College's keenness to enhance cooperation in education and training, and promote the initiatives to disseminate and transfer knowledge to its staff members. "Under the MoU, the Police College aims to boost the level of scientific research and training by qualifying police and security personnel, and providing them with legal, security and police knowledge, so as to enable them to perform their tasks efficiently and effectively. Such endeavor would contribute to creating a link between the college’s objectives and the needs of the flourishing community, in the quest to implement its strategic plans," he said.

Additionally, Colonel Al Shamesi underlined the keenness of the Police College to cooperate with Rabdan Academy, which complies with the highest international standards across all of its operations. "Rabdan Academy provides specialized training and education to staff members of all entities in charge of offering specialized services in the areas of safety, security, defense, crisis, emergency and disaster management," he noted.

For his part, Dr. Faisal Obaid Al Ayyan welcomed the signing of this MoU with the Police College with a view to promote training and education programs in this scientific and academic edifice in Abu Dhabi. "The Academy is looking to provide specialized programs for the Police College, out of its keenness to upgrade specialized education across all disciplines," he indicated. Furthermore, Dr. Al Ayyan pointed out that for the first time in the region, the Academy has provided a hub for academic and vocational education, thanks to the programs that include applied intensive components, which prepare students for the specialized filed of work immediately after graduation.

Moreover, Dr. Al Ayyan noted that the Academy’s efforts are focused on expanding its list of subspecialties required for building local and regional capacities, with the help of a consulting entity to design three academic degrees in homeland security.

On the same note, Dr. Faisal Al Ayyan emphasized that Rabdan Academy is a leading entity in training and educating staff members of security, safety, defense, crisis and disaster management entities by providing academic curricula, training, qualification and education courses for professionals or academics. "The Academy also organizes 60 specialized courses related to security and safety, in order to develop new strategic programs in cooperation with the world's most prestigious universities," he said.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior; Brigadier Saeed Saif Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director General of Finance and Services at Abu Dhabi Police; Brigadier Jassem Al Mansouri from the Inspector General's Office; along with a number of officers from the Ministry.
