Capital Governorate's Chief of Public Prosecution, Mohammad Salah, said that an on duty policeman was verbally offended by two persons, as he was stationed to provide protection for the election supervisory committee, based in Khawla Secondary School for Girls, according to notification received from Hoora police station on 24 October 2014.
Public Prosecutor said that two persons were on their way to the supervisory committee's station, a policeman (the plaintiff) asked them to show their identification cards, in accordance with instructions of the supervisory committee that stipulate that no one shall be allowed to enter the supervisory committee's station except for candidates after verifying their identities. But one of the two aforementioned persons (the defendant), who is a sacked member of the Council of Representatives, verbally attacked the plaintiff by calling him a mercenary and he shouldn't have been hired by the government.
Hoora Police Station assigned a police officer to attend the scene, who asked the defendant to report to the police station, after he finalized the electoral appeals procedures he intended to submit to the supervisory committee, in order to organize the police report.
The defendant attended the police station and was questioned in the presence of his lawyer who denied the charges filed against the defendant, alleging that it was a matter of understanding between the defendant and the plaintiff who neglected checking his identification card.
Public Prosecution ordered to detain the defendant pending investigation, providing that he will be allowed to attend the appeal case he submitted to the court, which will issue its rulings next Monday, so as the defendant will practice his electoral right.
Public Prosecution also ordered to summon witnesses to listen to their testimony.
