The fifth Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections has announced closure of polling stations for voters at 5.00 p.m. (local time).
Voting began at 29 polling stations at 8.00 a.m. and continued until 5:00 p.m. amid large turnout of voters who had tried since the early morning to exercise their right to vote, strengthen their national duty and cement this experiment, which launched for the first time in 1999.
More than 21,000 voters enrolled in the voter list had the right to vote to choose 26 members out of 29 after three candidates won the vote unopposed. Of the 114 runners, five are women.
Voters must come in-person to their polling stations where they have to produce their registration card and personal ID card. If the voter cannot select a candidate, he or she will be assisted by the election committee head.
