Jamal al Khudari, the head of the Popular Committee against the Siege, has thanked Egypt for re-opening the Rafah crossing on both sides for three days.
Hopefully, many Gazans would be able to travel during the three days that started earlier Saturday, Khudari told MENA correspondent in Gaza.
He talked about "exceptional" circumstances in Sinai, but still hoped that Cairo would find a suitable mechanism to enable Palestinians to travel in the future.
He hailed as "historic" the role played by Egypt in support of the Palestinian cause.
Egypt will continue to broker the truce, prisoner swap and national reconciliation files, Khudari noted.
He said ties between the Egyptian and Palestinian peoples have always been strong.
Egypt is the strategic depth of the Palestinian people, Khudari further said.
