The Public Prosecution has concluded investigation with a defendant who has been charged of publicly attacking a sect and insulting their rituals. The case has been referred to the Third Lower Criminal Court, which will consider it at its session on 8 September 2014, Chief Prosecutor Nayef Yusuf said.
Chief Prosecutor added that the Public Prosecution had earlier stated that it had interrogated the aforementioned accused, following notification received from the Department of Fighting Electronic Crime, who had posted a video footage on social networking sites in which he attacked a sect and insulted their rituals, as well as a clergyman. In order to have an active case, according to Article 9 of the criminal procedures, requires a victim or his legal representative to raise a complaint, but since the Public Prosecution had not received a request neither from the victim nor his legal representative in this regard, therefore the Public Prosecution took no further action than referring the accused to the criminal court.
