
The Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has called for immediate action by the international community to halt the Israeli military offensive on Gaza.
Qatari News Agency quoted Sheikh Tamim as affirming, during a telephone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, late on Wednesday, necessity of maintaining unity of the Palestinian people in the face of the Israeli attacks.
He renewed Qatar's support for the Palestinian people, their just cause, condemning the continuing Israeli attacks on the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
President Abbas, who called the Emir, informed him about current conditions in the occupied territories, namely the ongoing military operations against the Gaza strip. He also stressed on necessity of international action to halt these attacks.
