
The State of Qatar stressed Thursday its commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in their just cause to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
That was during the speech made by HE Speaker of Advisory Council Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi during the urgent session of the Arab Parliament held in Cairo to discuss developments in Gaza and efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement.
HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council said that the State of Qatar's diplomatic efforts has been ongoing since the start of the attack on Gaza, led by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The State of Qatar also continued to provide emergency aid to affected citizens of Gaza, HE the Speaker added.
His Excellency added that Israel's attack on Gaza was in violation to all international agreements and conventions. His Excellency also criticized the United Nations Security Council for its inaction. The Speaker of the Advisory Council then called on the international community to assume its responsibility in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council praised Gaza and its people for staying strong in the face of the attack, despite the lack of food, water and medicine. His Excellency called on all involved to assume responsibility and live up to the expectations of the Arab people in supporting the Palestinian cause, particularly in Gaza.
