Qatari chief of staff Maj. Gen. Ghanem bin Shahin al Ghanem arrived in Cairo Wednesday to take part in discussions to form a joint Arab force.
Arab chiefs of staff will meet later Wednesday for talks on details of how the force will be created in line with a resolution by the latest Arab Summit in Sharm el Sheikh.
The Arab Summit had urged Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby to coordinate with Egypt to host a meeting of top brass under the auspices of Arab chiefs of staff.
The talks will also focus on the role the joint force will play in the face of challenges threatening Arab security, safety and sovereignty.
They will particularly discuss the threat of terrorist organizations.
The meeting will also tackle executive measures and mechanisms of action, as well as the budget needed to establish the joint force.
The outcome of the meeting should be referred to Arab leaders.
Qatari Ambassador in Cairo Seif bin Meqdam al Bounain received the Qatari chief of staff at the airport.
