Qatar's Ministry of Justice will Tuesday host the first meeting of GCC officials for family counselling and reconciliation at Ritz Carlton here.
The GCC officials will discuss topics on family guidance, counselling, reconciliation, share experiences, expertise and official publications on strengthening family at the meeting which follows the decision of GCC justice ministers at their 26th conclave in Kuwait.
The meeting will also hear experience of Qatari family courts and their role in promoting family relations which is one of the main objectives of the 2011-2016 National Development Strategy.
HE Ministry of Justice Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs Ibrahim Musa Al Hitmi said the meeting is within the framework of the decision of GCC justice ministers and in co-ordination with Qatar Foundation for Social Action, the family counselling centre.
The outcome and recommendation of this meeting in Doha will be taken up by the GCC justice ministers and undersecretaries at their next meeting in September and October, he said.
HE the Minister of Justice is optimistic that the results of this meeting will benefit the security and stability of society in the Gulf. This comes within the framework of justice and legal co-operation between GCC countries to strengthen family courts, laws, and set up offices and committees and their terms of reference to guide and counsel families, Al Hitmi said.
Stressing the importance of the two-day meeting in Doha, Family Counselling Centre Chief Executive Officer Rashid bin Ahmed Al Dosari said the outcomes would benefit participating countries by sharing best practices and discussing topics in family counselling relevant to the GCC.
These efforts will have a positive impact in the future to upgrade the family in GCC and uphold its position as the first and basic social substrate, he added.
