Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) inaugurated Sunday the call center and hotline of its the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) to receive social protection calls or advisory, legal and psychological services.

QFSW also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Transport and Communications for a period of three years aims at enhancing cooperation between the two sides, supporting the civil society organizations working under the umbrella of the foundation, developing and activating its role in the society, facilitating the exchange of information between the foundation and the ministry, and the implementation of joint projects.

The MoU was signed by CEO of Qatar Foundation for Social Work Amal Abdullatif Al Mannai and Assistant Undersecretary for Information Technology at the Ministry of Transport and Communications Hassan Jassim Al Sayyed, in the presence of HE Minister of Transport and Communication Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan bin Mohammed Al Kuwari, HE Director-General of Public Security Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi and Chairperson of Qatar foundation for Social Work Munira bint Nasser Al Misnad.

The call center and hotline will provide an advanced service for receiving social protection applications or legal and psychological counseling services. It aims to meet the needs of target groups of women and children, ensure the operation of hotlines and support in professional ways, and enhance the skills of specialized and highly skilled personnel in monitoring the initial indicators of diagnosis, monitoring statistics accurately, recording the necessary data and answering inquiries.

The center will receive all incoming calls on the hotline (919) by qualified cadres on the mechanisms to deal with incoming communications and support, and reporting complaints of cases of domestic violence against the target groups of women and children.

In addition, the call center represents the link between Aman clients and the social, psychological or legal specialists. It receives dozens of calls daily and sometimes reaches hundreds per day, ranging from requests for protection, counseling and guidance.

In a press conference held on the sidelines of signing the MoU and the inauguration of the call center, CEO of Qatar Foundation for Social Work Amal Abdullatif Al Mannai said that the foundation has formed a team for crisis communication to deal with the affected cases and provide psychological and material support after imposing the siege.

Al Mannai noted that the number of affected citizens of the four siege countries reached 421 cases. They have been supported by various means, including psychological and family counseling, rehabilitation, housing and material aid, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, stressing that the centers of the foundation continue to provide services without change, discrimination or interruption.

Al Mannai expressed pleasure to inaugurate the call center of Aman, and praised the active and constructive partnership with the public and private sectors to enhance the complementary relationship that achieves the national vision of Qatar, noting that Ihsan and Shafallah centers will witness similar events in the near future.

for his part, CEO of Aman Mansour Al Saadi announced several future projects that will contribute to the development of the services provided by the center to its target groups.

He stressed the Center’s keenness on promoting the principle of investment and building partnerships with all concerned institutions, noting that the launch of the call center and hotline is the first fruits of this cooperation between civil society organizations and the government sector.

Al Saadi explained that the call center contributes to the realization of the vision and message of (Aman) in promoting the protection and social rehabilitation of women and children through the hotline and e-reception service and access service, through which it can provide any assistance or advice, adding that the center has made great efforts to accomplish this work and to make it enjoy great privacy and complete confidentiality in information.

Al Saadi noted that the hotline 919 was re-launched around the clock after the Gulf crisis and the increase of those affected by the siege.

In press statements, HE Director-General of Public Security Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi highlighted the cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Interior and Qatar Foundation for Social Action in all fields.

Al Khulaifi said the launch of the call center and hotline reflects the cooperation between the QFSW and the Ministry of Interior represented by the Community Police Department and the Central Operations Department at the National Command Center. The call center will receive complaints from citizens and residents regarding domestic violence on the target groups of women and children, which was previously received by the Central Operations Department through emergency service (999).

He noted that the Central Operations Department provided all means of support to the foundation for the establishment of the call center and hotline with its latest security systems to respond to any emergency and provide security and safety for citizens and residents in Qatar.

For his part, Director of the Central Operations Department at the Ministry of Interior Brig. Said Hassan Al Mazrouei praised the launch of the call center and hotline (919) to receive all calls related to cases of domestic violence, which will reduce the number of calls received by the emergency service (999) by 20%.

He said that the Central Operations Department has held several coordination meetings with QFSW in order to introduce the way to receive and classify communications, communicate with the caller and other vital matters that contributed to the speedy launch of the center, noting a coordination between the Department and the call center in order to train the staff on how to deal with complaints.

Meanwhile, Assistant Director of the Community Police Department Col. Sultan Mohammed Al Kaabi said that there is continuous cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Interior represented by the Community Police Department and Aman through the Department’s competence to build and strengthen partnerships with various state institutions to address negative social problems and phenomena, in order to achieves the security and safety of the community.

Al Kaabi noted joint programs, mechanisms and activities which contribute to the achievement of desired objectives of both parties.

The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) of Qatar Foundation for Social Work was established in 2013 and is concerned with the protection and rehabilitation of victims of violence of women and children and their reintegration into society.
