Receiving the candidacy papers of former organization secretary for the now-disbanded National Democratic Party Ahmed Ezz by the committee of examining the candidacy requests does not mean that he will be allowed to run in the coming parliamentary elections, said a judicial source.
In statements on Thursday, the source said that the committee examining the candidacy papers in the lower court is the only entity that can determine whether Ezz can run in the polls or not and if he meets the terms of candidacy or not.
On September 8, the administrative court upheld a previous ruling banning Ezz from running in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The court overruled the lawsuit filed by Ezz to challenge the ruling.
The court has taken its decision on the ground that Ezz does not meet the terms set by the High Election Commission (HEC).
