The Arab League, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday welcomed the ceasefire agreement, mediated by Egypt late on Tuesday, between Palestinian factions and Israel.
Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby called on the parties concerned to do their efforts to hold the agreement and abide by implementing its terms.
There are ongoing consultations with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to launch an Arab and international serious move, which aims to put an end to Israeli occupation to Palestinian territories and avoid Israeli violation and offensive on Palestinians, said a statement by the Arab league General Secretariat.
That move will be discussed in the upcoming league's ministerial meeting in Cairo slated for September 7 in the presence of Abbas, noted the statement.
For his part, GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdul-Latif Al Zayani said in a statement that the agreement is an important step to halt Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip and lift sufferings of Palestinians.
He hailed Egyptian efforts and international and regional support that helped parties reach such agreement, the statement said, adding Al Zayani called on international community to move quickly to deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip.
Meanwhile, the OIC Secretary General Iyad Amin Madani stressed necessity of opening all border crossings and facilitating entry of humanitarian aid and materials to start the process of Gaza reconstruction.
He urged the OIC states and Arab and Islamic funds to support the Strip, indicating that the OIC will send several humanitarian missions next week to assess needs of people and losses caused by Israeli aggression.
He confirmed that the ceasefire could lead to open the negotiation file to reach a comprehensive and just agreement and put an end to Israeli aggression.
