The world is today quite aware of the obvious relation between drug trafficking, organized crime and terrorist groups in the region of the Sahel (African), underlined Tuesday in Boumerdes expert and international consultant M’hand Berkouk.
“Morocco, which is the producer and exporter of drugs, has become a center of instability and insecurity for the States of the Arab Maghreb,” said Berkouk, also lecturer in several international universities, in a paper on “the Maghreb security environment, geostrategic study,” read as part of the Summer university of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Boumerdes.
As proof of this “destructive strategy,” he said that “72% of the seized drugs, across the world, come from Morocco, while 95 tons of cannabis, from the same State, were seized in Algeria during the first half of 2014, the equivalent of 100 million Kif cigarettes, averaging three cigarettes for each Algerian citizen.”
All these clues require the need to rank Morocco, by the international bodies, as a “producer and exporter country of drugs,” so that it “assumes its responsibilities” regarding the international community to “put an end” to this dangerous trafficking, said Berkouk.
“Targeting Algeria for its firm positions towards the Sahrawi issue” is the other face of the policy of instability of the Moroccan regime, which seeks to convince the Moroccans about “the existence of a foreign enemy threatening its territorial unity,” he underlined.
