Retrial of 13 militants involved in Kerdasa violence case adjourned to October 8

Giza Criminal Court decided on Saturday to adjourned to October 8 the retrial of 13 terrorists involved in the breaking into Kerdasa police station and the killing of Giza Assistant Security Director Nabil Farag in 2013.

The decision was made to listen to the testimonies of eyewitnesses.

The case is one of a number of controversial mass trials focusing on disturbances in the village of Kerdasa following the ousting of the Muslim Brotherhood president.

Giza Criminal Court has previously sentenced 12 defendants to death, while 10 others were given life in jail sentences in the same case.

14 policemen died in the attack on the police station in August, 2013. The perpetrators were heavily armed, including with rocket propelled grenades (RPGs). Policemen were tortured to death and some of the bodies were mutilated.
