
Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal announced the start of a runoff vote between MPs Alaa Eddin Abdel Moneim and Soliman Wahdan for the post of deputy speaker on Monday.
On Sunday, Mahmoud el Sherif won the first deputy speaker seat during a vote held at the procedural session after granting 345 votes.
Alaa Eddin Abdel Moneim came second with 225 votes and Soliman Wahdan third with 157 votes.
Fifteen lawmakers had run for the two seats of deputy speaker.
The parliament speaker announced the results of the vote as follow:
Hatem Bashat: 100 votes.
Medhat el Sherif: 47 votes.
Emad Gad: 41 votes.
Aneesa Hassouna: 36 votes.
Samir Ghattas: 32 votes.
Mohamed Omara: 27 votes.
Hossam el Serfi: 18 votes.
John Talaat: 17 votes.
Sanaa Barghash: 14 votes.
Mohamed Abdel Badea: 11 votes.
Mohamed Askar: 8 votes.
Khaled Hanafy: 6 votes.
