
The Saudi Royal Court issued a statement Saturday evening welcoming the improvement of the Egyptian-Qatari ties as a result of the initiative of Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
King Abdullah has always been keen on unifying the stances of the Arab countries and ironing out the differences between the Republic of Egypt and State of Qatar in various fields and at all levels, particularly what have been broadcasted by media outlets associated to the two countries, according to the statement carried out by SPA.
The King's initiative is based on the two agreements signed in Riyadh on November 23, 2013, and November 16, 2014, which confirmed the commitment of all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States to supporting the Arab Republic of Egypt and contributing to its security and stability .
Both Egypt and Qatar expressed appreciation for the initiative of King Abdullah which called on both countries to consolidate relations between them, unify stances and remove causes of discord, the statement noted.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed its welcome regarding ongoing steps that will strengthen relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar, including the visit made by Special Envoy of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to Egypt," it went on.
"Under leadership of King Abdullah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stressed its support and keenness on opening a new page between the two countries for enhancing integration and cooperation between the two countries to achieve higher interests of the Arab and Islamic nations, hoping of all honorable scientists, intellectuals, writers and men of the media outlets responding and supporting this step.
"We ask Allah Almighty to deepen bonds of brotherhood between the two brotherly countries and enhance their relations and strengthen common interest of the two countries to confront the challenges facing the region," it added.
Based on the initiative, Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi received earlier this evening Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri, Chief of the Royal Court and Private Secretary and Envoy of King Abdullah; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al Thani, Assistant of the Qatari Foreign Minister and Envoy of Qatari Amir Sheikh Tammim bin Hamad Al Thani.
