Saudi Interior Ministry announced on Friday the launch of the security plan for this Hajj season, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Interior Ministry spokesperson Major-General Mansoor Al Turki said in the first press conference for this season that the police forces are dedicated to protect the safety of pilgrims.
He highlighted that 237,583 illegal pilgrims were banned from entering holy sites, while another 104,784 were also denied access for lacking licenses to enter Mecca for the season.
The conference revealed that the security plan includes reviewing the movements of pilgrims and the traffic, as well as organizational plans.
Saudi Arabia has been implementing strict security measures for Hajj to ensure the safety of pilgrims and prevent terrorist attacks like blasts that targeted places of worships in different areas in the country in recent years.
