A security alert was raised in southern Arish, North Sinai, after an army officer and conscript were killed and another injured when a roadside bomb targeted their patrol.
Forces have been shooting warning rounds at different security checkpoints in Arish.
Patrols are on the move to monitor the security situation, enforce a curfew in the city and comb the area for the attackers.
Army jets are also flying over the area, where dense farms and olive trees are planted, to detect any moves.
Security forces also blocked the city’s entrances and exits. The curfew takes place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
